Majd al-Shihabi is a PhD candidate in the Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Toronto, supervised by Heather Dorries and John Robinson. His doctoral research examines the influence of the City of Toronto’s climate action plan, TransformTO, on the urban fabric of the city, and asks how the technical modelling used in policy design opens or closes political imaginaries for desirable futures. He uses co-creation methods to build counter-models that envision alternative policy pathways for urban living in Toronto. Majd is a co-founder of Palestine Open Maps and the MASRAD collective.
